February 16-17, 2008  10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Five on the Fly  - Visit Three Mendota Museum & Historical Museums  (Hume-Carnegie, Union Depot Railroad Museum, Breaking the Prairie Museum), Mendota; Ottawa Boy Scout Museum, Ottawa; Illinois Waterway Visitor Center, Dee Bennett Road, LaSalle County Historical Society, Utica; Norske Museum, Norway; & Streatorland Historical Society, Streator. Pay $1.00 at the first museum visited, receive a book to use as admission in the rest.

October 18, 2008 - 4:00 PM Dedication of Wild Bill Hickok Statue - 901 Washington Street - in front of the Hume-Carnegie Museum. Joseph Rosa will be keynote speaker.This program is made possible in part by a grant from the Illinois Humanities Council, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Illinois General Assembly - Admission Free
October 18, 2008 - 5:00 PM Heritage Dinner - Elks Club - keynote speaker - Joseph Rosa, Ruislip, Middlesex, England. Joseph is an author and renowned authority on James Butler "Wild Bill" Hickok. He has written five adult and one children's book about Wild Bill. The cost will be $25.00 per person which includes the meal, coffee or iced tea, tax, and gratuity. Cocktails at 5:00 PM - Dinner 6:00 PM. T
December 14, 2008 Holidays at the Museums - Enjoy a festive evening with friends and family. Begin with hors d'oeuvres at the Hume-Carnegie Museum at 5:00 PM. Entertainment will follow at 6:00 PM at the Country Chapel at the Breaking the Prairie Museum. Wander across the street to the Union Depot Railroad Museum for delectable desserts from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
